angiek i like your line about smiling...at times when i'm by myself, i just smile or laugh to practise...it actually helps my mood a bit. Nash by the way played a terrific game Friday night overcoming a 16 point deficit. The annoucer stated that Nash encouraged and supported his team-mates when they made errors, while the players on the opposing team criticized each other for mistakes. it is difficulty for me to get a lot of emotion from television. usually i feel guilty for wasting my time, though watching Nash is a bit like going to Mass with the Pope, for a Catholic. i do get quite a lot of emotion out of interaction in structured groups, meetings and ocassionally with individuals. I am naturally very shy, so it feels good to succeed in making an interpersonal connection. One thing i have learned is that i feel good if I can make other people feel good. Someone once told me to look for reasons to compliment others. Look for ways to make people feel good about themselves. Try to listen to people, to take an interest in their lives. When I succeed at that I feel good. i've also had a few photos published. I guess that perks me up somewhat.

Bob, I'm new here and I have many questions about what can and can't be done when it comes to moods. I understand feeling somewhat flat about things that we seemingly should be "up" about. I'm not sure we have control over our zone of joy. I want to be positive about situations, but the reality of depression, makes that very difficult, at best. I would be interested in knowing how others "cause" themselves to feel more excited. In touch with our emotions? Most emotions for me just seem blah. It seems that the best I can do, for the moment, is to feel indifferent. As much as I know they (the experts) say we can't just snap out of it. How I wish I could. You too, I'm sure. Too bad there isn't a light switch to turn the desired emotion on or off. Hey, if I find a way to order that zone of joy, I'll let you know, k?! Hang in there, and smile...it makes others wonder what you're up to.

hi steve nash played extremely well last night as he led his team to victory in the NBA playoffs. This proves that anything is possible. how does this relate to depression. I want to feel more joy and excitement from this. I feel somewhat flat even though its something I desperately wanted to happen. Nash performed exceptionally well. how do we put ourselves into that zone of joy. how do we get more in touch with our feelings any comments? bob
