One person who replied said that medications effect people differently. The doctor cannot ever know how you feel. He is on the outside. No two people have the same reaction to the same drug, and that is all drugs, and not just these kinds of drugs. It takes a lot of patience to go through all the trials and tests to find the right medication, but your doctor has to take that time and have that patience. Your boyfriend, I believe, is only partly right. For ten years I refused to take medications for depression. I knew there was a natural and healthy way to deal with it. Now, I have been on Prazac for 3 months and I can see what no one could ever have explained or told me. It is not a magic potion, but it does help, and nothing else could have done what it does. Sometimes, you have to take medicine. That is part of nature too. All humanity from the earliest times looked for and has used medicine, and that is a miracle of nature too. There is no tribe, no society, no people anywhere in human history that did not prescibe medicine sometimes. Prayer, meditation, diet and exercise are all part of the solution too. We need support and friends and trust and care and we need psychotherapists who can and will give us the time we need to go through it all. God bless your boyfriend. Also, thank-god, we can take medicine. It is one of life's miracles, I believe. You do not have to believe in God to believe in miracles. Human beings have been using medicine for millenia, and it is part of nature too, I believe. One of nature's miracles.
