Elleng6,

70% of IBS cases are caused by anxiety in other words, the upset stomach can be a symptom of anxiety. Use this program to challenge your anxiety and you likely will take control of your IBS. You CAN let go of the fear. Anxiety disorders are the most managable  mental health issues there  is. It takes hard work and lots of practice. We will be here to support you through it.

What session in the program are you on  currently?

Hi elleg6, Going to a clinic for stomach issues allowed me to realize that even docs for intestine-related issues value the mental realm and their impact. More specifically, I was told that the stomach reflects our emotions, but in a more elegant way. Using relaxation exercises makes a world of difference, but it's remember to do them that undermines my progress.

I have Never actually done it. but I can't seem to let the fear go.  It makes me get up and leave or squirm in my seat.  I start to look like a jumping bean.  Horribly embracing.  Realistically I guess it could happen.  I let me stomach get so worked up before I go. Like so many anxious people I have IBS,

Welcome elleng6,

How likely is it that you will actually pass gas in a meeting or social event? How many times has this happened before?

Welcome elleng6

Hmmmmm, it seems no one has this fear, which doesn't mean it isn't real. It is amazing what people fear, but what isn't so amazing is where it comes from so since this is a fact it is also a fact that the fear can be changed to something more realistic. Even gotten rid of. As for the gas, well you will still have to pick the right time for that one, but some of it may be anxiety since it is a common side effect.

Has anyone experienced fear of passing gas during business meetings or small social settings? My fear of it actually makes it hard for me to sit through any small gathering.  I am beginning to avoid all small settings especially when I know the people or care what they think of me
