feel embarassed due to depression & anxiety

I had a similar situation, but it was too toxic, with too many people actively being bullies.  The management just let it go, since they didn't want their jobs threatened, nor did they wish to rock the boat.

I think I've made a good choice by not returning, since there were too few "friends".  I don't wish to relive the nightmare of being victimized.  I was too depleted to exercise other options.  Also, the supports I had outside of work encouraged me to leave the bad situation.

All I can do is move on, since mental and physical health are important.

It is lonely being outside the large and connected company I was in, and there's no status in not working, or leaving abruptly, but some people literally don't live if they continue in negative situations because of the excessive stress, possibility of heart attack and other possible illnesses.

I know at some level that the "embarrassment" and shame I feel is a result of some depression, due the loss of an important role in my life.

Sometimes I find I had to cut my losses.

Hi Rohit,

I think Davit makes a great point. If they are friends worth keeping they will not judge you for your anxiety and job change.

The way I see it is you can take a chance on losing your friends by telling them or you can lose them by shutting them out, choice is yours. If they don't accept you then they aren't your friends.

I was the same way a few months ago, but I did dig deep in my self to find the old me.  I don't know if your anxiety was worse than mine but I finally just told myself to not let my anxiety get me.  I can defeat it.  I made it to what it was and I can let it go away.  After a few days of trying, it got easier and then finally i realized it was gone.

I'm dealing with a setback right now but I'm determined to make it go away again.  I started a new job and I feel better.  It worse if you keep yourself locked up, I had moments where I wanted to but the times of confidence and times when I forgot all about anxiety is what got me through.  I said to myself If I can forget about anxiety for an hour, I can forget about anxiety for good.

Good luck!

Sorry Rohit, I would like to know the answer to the same question. I am in similar situation to you. I feel embarrassed and ashamed and avoid contact with those from past. I wish you well in finding the answer to this.

My good old friends are trying to contact me since last 1 year.I left my job last year because I am not able to manage my anxiety. It has gone so high that I was left with no option but to leave job.My friends are  searching me on facebook & sending me message. But I did not respond to them because I feel embarassed due to my anxiety &current low salary profile.I feel bad in sharing my present situation with them.
Any suggestion on how to deal with such situations ?
