Hi Gailerina,

From your question, it is not clear if you mean diet or regular ginger ale. Canada Dry brand ginger ale does not contain caffeine but depending where you live, some sodas even ginger ales could have caffeine added to them (i.e. Mountain dew in the US has caffeine) . Davit makes good points about aspartame which is in Diet sodas...where I live most commercial sodas use either glucose or aspartame.

But I like soda the odd time because the carbonation helps my soothe my stomach. So I have switched to either organic ginger 'beer' which uses stevia or sugar or agave, or club soda with some lemon or lime juice concentrate added. This gets me thinking you could probably chop up ginger root and add it to club soda to try for a nice tummy tamer. I might try that and see if it works and tastes good.

Rooibos teas are great! I like the taste and there are many different kinds to choose from. I like that they can be steeped for a while without going bitter like black and green teas. And If you have not tried peppermint tea to help your stomach after a meal, I highly recommend trying it.

Davit...I have some of that tetley ginger mint tea in my cupboard and the flavour didn't grab me...wish I could send mine to you as our store here cleared it all out at 50% off so I bought some a while back that is just sitting here. I like ginger and I like mint but not the two together! :)

Excuse my misspelling your name last time, cataracts are a bit of a problem. In my opinion diet soda is more harmful than caffeine despite sugar being bad for us. The brain runs on mostly sugar so you need some in your diet. Too much is not good. I now can have coffee again but only in the morning and I do have to accept the consequences. But I can now. Caffeine is not the problem but the thoughts it causes. CBT eventually takes care of them. There are other consequences of too much caffeine so cutting it out or cutting it back is a good idea.
Europe recognizes the hazard of aspartame and uses stevia instead. Aspartame breaks down to formaldehyde, a known Carcinogenic. It also causes inflammation in Arthritics like me, it cripples me in less than half an hour.
Personally I have never had a problem with soda as much as the amount consumed.
Rooibos is a substitute for black tea commonly called red tea. It has no caffeine. There are a few coffee substitutes made from grain too. A good tea I like is Tetley's Ginger Mint. It is sometimes hard to find.

I have slowly cut caffeine out of my diet and realize that means I need to change the type of tea I drink.

Are caffeine free sodas bad? Mainly, ginger ale. I sometimes drink it if I have an upset stomach.

Cutting out caffiene and suger is certainly a good choice! That must have been touch. Nice work!

I'm not a nutritionist or dietition so I don't feel it's right me telling you what to eat for your anxiety but I have done a bit of online searches and there seem to be a lot of options. I would consider food allergies and sensitivities as well. Good luck in your search. I think it's fantastic you are taking a holistic approach.

Let us know if you find anything interesting.

Hi Naa

I'm fine now and have found some calcium. I'm making pie shells to freeze. I want a raspberry glaze pie but a street sweeper just went by. They never do my road. So now there may be dust on the berries.

I try to live simple like my Grandparents. As organic as possible. For a while I had a closed system. Only calves left and nothing but chicken feed came in. I grew my own hay for the cows and composted the manure and put it in the gardens. It is full of micronutrients which is probably why the better texture and better taste.

My water is filtered but not chlorinated. I can't stand chlorinated water.

Four more shells to roll out and I can go outside, I hope it is cooler today.

Hi Davit:
Hope you feel better soon. I am just learning how sensitive our bodies are to these micronutrients and how even a small imbalance can cause problems. Enjoy the day. I am at work feeling a little anxious and trying to calm my thoughts

Bummer, I let my calcium level get too low and now I feel like crap. Can't sleep because I can't breath and I have too many random thoughts running through my head. Off to town today to buy some when the store opens. It is just me but I use up calcium faster than normal and it is necessary for the synapses to work right. At least it works fast.

Don't exceed the daily limit including that got from food unless you are sure you need it. Kidney stones would not be fun even if My Doc says you don't get them from too much calcium. If you do take calcium balance it with magnesium or you will lose your teeth.

Antibiotics waste both of these, and I'm back on my low dose antibiotic therapy for my arthritis.

Naa

Possibly nothing happens, I just feel fogged in and that can increase the anxiety. It works best 15 minutes before a meal if a person thinks they can't eat or just before bed if they are anxious. Some times it sits by my bed just in case. Some times my cat crowds me and I wake anxious. Some times a project has my mind going ticky ticky. This way I sleep. This is just good sense I think. I doubt it is habit forming.

Hi Davit
You are absolutely right - there are no short cuts. I would like something that doesnt have tons of side effects to help reduce the intensity of the sensations though. It's not fun walking around with a thumping heart and shaky insides and dizziness all day. :(
I will try the lemon balm tea - What happens if you drink more than two cups?

Will definitely share any success that I achieve on the herbal supplement front.
