smoking and mental health

I just don't have as much anxiety. Smoking causes me to be more anxious and raise BP. I like this forum but it's not very active.

Great benefit to the quit!  Some members have experienced that "foggy feeling" within the first couple of weeks, however, it does go away and you are able to re-focus.

What other benefits are you finding?

Hmmm, I don't know if I've experienced that yet - but it would DEFINITELY be welcomed!!  lol!!  I'm sure my hubby and kids would like that benefit too!  :)

Yes it's true. Maybe people that are naturaly more unbalanced gravitate to smoking or maybe smoking makes us less balanced. Either way, I believe it and  have noticed that most mentally ill people smoke.

I agree.  I feel like I can concetrate better and stay focused longer.
I can think more clearly now.  And I don't get as many headaches either.

I noticed that when I was smoke free for a couple of months, I felt more mentally balanced and stable. I think smokers are on a emotional roller coaster more than non smokers  from the ups and downs of nictine dosing/smoking. I also noticed that I can get more done and study better when not smoking. I'm new again and trying to remember how it was and it was better in many ways being a non smoker especially mentally. thanks
