Day 15 and rewards

Izzy, Day 7 and taking the Chantix. I've had a cold so haven't been able to see the great health improvements yet. What are you doing with your extra time? I think I'm gaining weight. It's cold where I am too so maybe you can offer some advice for when the weather doesn't allow for a walk. I'm walking tonight before dinner and can hopefully make it a habit. Theres a big void there, before dinner, I used to do a lot of my smoking then. Thanks for your inspiration and encouragement Izzy! I too, am on my 15th day.. I noticed the colour in my face but I thought it was just me imagining things, I guess not.. Im feeling the same things as you (with the excpetion of sleeping, it's been a bit out of wack) and it's lovely.. Congratulations and keep up the great work.. You should still have some special add in time for yourself, go get yourself a well deserved coffee/tea or special snack.. Or maybe a new purse to hold the wads of money your going to be saving.. That is what I did :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/9/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 14 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 219 Amount Saved: $105 Life Gained: Days: 1 Hrs: 1 Mins: 2 Seconds: 5

Today's day 15 on Chantix quit. Husband quit too, so we go a little nuts on weekends-primo smoking time. We decided to treat ourselves a little every Saturday. First weekend we went to a matinee and last weekend bought workout clothes. It's hard to believe I still want to smoke when I feel so amazing. I'm done with physical withdrawal, it's all about the preoccupation with smoking now. I even see situations that would be "great opportunities" for smoking. The good stuff that's happened in last two weeks: My face looks alive and healthy--not necessarily younger, but really healthy--it has color in it! I can breathe in the morning I wake up earlier than usual and ready to go I sleep deeply I don't have to wash my clothes as much--not stinky I can shovel snow I started running (slooowly) I don't have to add in time for appts b/c I no longer need to squeeze in smoking time Probably saving a ton on heat b/c we don't go out 10 times a nite I can actually smell my shampoo The meds are a little hard to take but worth it, especially for blocking the depression I usually get when I quit.

Hi Audrey, Sorry to know you have a cold--that's happened to me in past quits, too. The body seems to like to expel all the yucky stuff in dramatic ways. I'm always worthless the first week--just a total bum, which is a 180 of my usual hyper self. Extra time: I am working more, cleaning more, working out more (I have a home gym), doing yoga (stretching and breathing help a lot), listening to meditation tapes, blasting bad 80's music, shoveling snow, walking the dog more, watching movies, organizing house stuff, reading, planning healthy menus, playing games online, checking in here..... Don't be too hard on yourself about the weight. That excuse has sent me back to smokes many times. It's not a real solution. Try to make good food choices and eat stuff that supports your immune system. I am up 2 lbs in 2 weeks but feel amazing. And I know this sounds clich, but exercise makes all the difference. I am walking/jogging by 7:30 each day. I walk the dog in the afternoon (I'm in cold weather, too). No matter how slow you need to go, just move. If it's too cold, go to a mall and do laps. Congrats on 7 days, that's awesome.
