Welcome maydaydesiree,

I am sorry to hear you are feeling this way. Feeling depressed is a common withdrawal symptom. Know that it is temporary . You should start to feel better in a week or two.In the mean time use coping skills. Exercise, eat and sleep well. Be sure to make time for social and pleasant activities. Also, rest if you need to. Your body is healing now so go easy on yourself.

If you continue to feel depressed it might be helpful to see a doctor and/or research treatments that might be right for you. You might find our sister site helpful: www.depressioncenter.net.

How are you feeling today?

First of all CONGRATS for getting rid of this life endangering dependency .

I have had quit smoking and its been close to 60 odd ( 18th Aug 2014) days now - I very well understand what you are going through and believe me it GETS BETTER AND BETTER ....i too had days where  i felt that my life is going to end  ....depression ...anxiety ....but you need to hang in there ....what helped me was the support of my friends / family ....and groups like these ...
Drink loads of fluid ....take ample rest .... keep your mind occupied with something  ...anything ...a book ...a movie ...a mobile game ...absolutely Anything ...DO NOT stress yourself with the ideas of depression ...anxiety ....Drink loads of water ...try doing exercise ...even for ten minutes a day.....
Please be assured that its the long wanted body cleansing thats happening  ...it might leave you mentally /physically exhausted initially ... BUT at the end you will understand it is all for your OWN good ....

Hang in there .... you have done what thousands  ...just dream of but just can not do .... Smoking is the easiest and the most cowardly thing to do ...Quitting is for the Strong Minded ....Be Strong ....Hang In there ....Congrats  ...God Bless!!!!

Hey everyone,

So I've just reached my week of being smoke-free, but it has been extremely difficult. I've been feeling extremely depressed. I've struggled with depression throughout my life, but it's never been this bad. I don't want to go into too much detail, but basically I feel like I'm giving up my mental health for my physical health. Has anyone else struggled with depression while quitting? I'm not sure how to get through this. I find myself wondering if it's really worth it at this point. Some words of encouragement or ways that someone has dealt with this would be very helpful. Thanks :)
