2 1/2 years without self-harming is huge Becki.  Really!  Don't give up on yourself just yet.  You can build on this success.  While the program here does not specifically address this issue you can still certainly mention that you struggle with it and ask members for support.

If you stick it out here... you will be given many tools to help and lots of practice in using healthier ways to cope.  Self-harm is a behavioral issue and part of the re-training you can learn is how to manage and tolerate the feelings from which they spring. (This is my opinion, based on my own experience... but if I can learn new ways of coping... I believe there is hope for you too).

As Ashley said, we are here to listen.  Thank you for being honest and sharing how hard things are for you right now.  If you are having trouble getting started with the reading... start small... one page at a time... maybe even just a paragraph ... a little bit each day.  Be gentle with yourself... ok?

Hi Becki,

I'm sorry you have been going through such a difficult time. Know it will pass and we are right here beside you.

I am concerned about your mention of self harm. This program does not focus on the treatment of self harm it focuses on treating depression which can in turn help with self harm. I encourage you to talk to a health care professional about this to receive proper treatment. We are not trained in helping individuals with self harm at the Depression Center.

We can help you with Depression. The program here is based on Cognitive Behaviour Therapy which is a proven effective treatment for depression. Some individuals with mild to moderate depression work on this program alone others with the assitance of a psychologist. It is best to talk to your doctor about what's the best option for you.

Working on the program does take time and hard work but you will see results.

Start with session one and take your time with each session completing all the homework.

Have you had a chance to look at the program? Anything interesting so far? Any questions?

Had a really bad day yesterday and all the bad dark thoughts Ive managed to keep at bay have come back.  Spent all night crying and walking round at work like a zombie now.

I don't want to fall back into bad habits, it has been 2.5 years since I last self harmed and I had been doing it for ten years (feels weird telling you this, as hardly anyone knows). I have now got to the part again where I feel so low and useless. Not sure where to go from here........
