blue, Welcome to our support community! The Depression Center offers personalized, interactive tools that have helped thousands of people challenge and overcome their depression. If you look to the left of the screen under "PROGRAM TOOLS" you'll find our Depression Test, Session Diary, CBT Buddies and our Depression Program. Why a Depression Test? The purpose of our Depression Test is to prepare you with information that you can present to your physician. When you're finished the test, you can either print your Final Report or email it directly to your doctor. What is a Session Diary? Your Session Diary is your Depression Program "Control Center." Your Session Diary contains all of your tools, worksheets and results as you move through each of the 16 Sessions in the Depression Program. Online Support? CBT Buddies? Our CBT Buddies and Online Support Group allows you to have some anonymous assistance when dealing with depression. The CBT Buddie and Online Support Group is offered on a 24-hour basis and allows you to communicate with others like you around the world. CBT? Hi. I am brand new to this web-site and can't wait to feel 'good' enough to talk. I am in a major funk. I have been on anti-depressants for over 10 yrs and have stopped and started a few times. this time I can't get back because I am jobless and would be homeless if it were not for my sister. I seem to be just locked up, can't set a goal, can't stop crying, Please, I know everyone here is/has been somewhere close to this point. I don't even want to get dressed, shower, etc. Sleeping alot and keep thinking I will wake up and feel some sort of joy. Any ideas? I tried to call for welfare and can't get through. If it were not all so true, it might be a nightmare.

Hey Wishingwell, Thanks for the info. I live in Canada (BC to be exact) and I know we have assistance programs here but unfortunately I make too much money to be able to go on them. My work benefits don't cover the meds I am on either. Hence....I have to pay. I don't really mind because I find my sanity is more important to me...and I have finally secured a job making half decent money. I know that I will probably be on them for the rest of my life so I guess that too has made me accept it. We may have a free medical system here but the meds can cost bunches! Stay positive and take care.

Rayne, Do you have to pay $110 per month for one medication or several? I don't know if I can help, but I can share some information that might help you. I'm not sure where you live, but we have patient assistance programs here that supplement medications if you meet the criteria. Do you think this might be an option for you? It's a shame that drug companies cannot reduce the amount for people who truly depend on these meds and make it easier for us and others to afford medications that affect our mental well being. I have taken Zoloft years ago, and also Wellbutrin but I didn't stay on meds for long and stopped a few months after getting out of the hospital. I just didn't have any insight back then and not even knowledge of how those meds work. I take my med Lexapro 20 mg every day and don't miss a dose for one month now. Some days it seems to help better than others, but I won't quit it this time. I have to keep trying to get better one way or the other. See ya later

I had to laugh...Wellbutrin certainly does make you feel fantastic doesn't it. I agree that everyone should be on it! (the world would certainly be a happier place). It really is a great medication the only problem I've found with it is I cannot seem to come off of it. Every time I have attempted to wean myself from it I spiral down into a major depression. As such it seems like I am stuck on it for the rest of my life. Not so bad I guess but costs me about $110 a month! (A small price to pay for sanity though wouldn't you say?) What dose are you on right now?

thanks moth for writing. this is a neat site. i have taken the wellbutrin for two days and i can not believe how great i feel. i wish everyone could take this stuff. i am going to write more about it in the meds section. not only does it work awesome for me, it has great side effects: loss of appetite, wieght loss, tons of energy and 3 times more likely to increase sexual appetite than decrease it. and it is generic! after HMO it is $5/month. yippee!

Glad to hear you are feeling more positive. Your posts certainly feel full of energy and I for one am finding inspiration in reading them, being on the the verge of crawling under the covers at the moment. I too am thinking of going to the doctors and taking medication for the first time(I have been prescribed meds many times but rarely take them). I must get out my goals and activity scheduling worksheets and set to work straight away. I think that's the key isn't it? To get on and make yourself take small steps - by activities and working towards your goals - even if you do not feel like it. Another key is also not to beat yourself up or give up if you chicken out of something or have a bad day. Just to keep the worksheets handy and to get back on it as soon as you can. That is the hardest thing too. Good luck with your goals and activities! Moth

i came here becuase i didnt want to get out of bed for the last month and i no longer enjoyed any of the activites i used to: yoga, cycling, dancing, crafts, weight-training, dating. i already feel so much better. must be the upward spiral. i took my first wellbutrin today, so i know it cant be the meds making me feel better. i just cant believe how much hope i have right now. i feel like i am already cured. crazytalk, obviously. so. my goals are: to return to my active lifestyle and lose wieght. to return to dating and find an emotionally healthy person to develop a supportive and fufilling relationship with. to enjoy my kids more and take them to do fun things on a regular basis. to develop strong relationships with each of my kids, especially my son who is rather difficult right now. to not be adversely affected by my Dad's criticism. to form some strong friendships with positive people. to take up a martial art. to resurrect my old hobbies of furniture restoration and gardening. that would be totally awesome.
