I went through a small journey to find the right meds. They had me on Paxil at first, but the imporvement was minimal and the side-effects were counter-productive. I was taken off of that and put on Effexor, which has been a God-send for me.
There is no shame in using medicine to help deal with the symptoms. If you were diabetic, you would take insulin, right? This is no different. If the disease is chemical, it needs a chemical reaction to be dealt with. We also need to do the leg work of understanding our own behaviour (forgive me, I'm Canadian) and trying to change the way we think.
If this new drug can work for you, you owe it to yourself to give it a try. The key is to keep faith that if it does not work, there is a drug out there that will.
