Hiya Mugs :) I find that before I have something really scary there are a few things I can do that really help. First challenging my thoughts about it really helps. Also, doing breathing and relaxation exercise to stay relaxed helps. So before I have to go I do my breathing and relaxation and I start off feeling much more relaxed. Also, exposure work helps me get there too. Finally visualizing myself getting through whatever it is really well also seems to help me get prepared mentally. Sorry I could not be more helpful! Hope this helps a bit! -Diva

Mugs, This is a great way to begin your progress. The panic program is about challenging your thoughts and pushing forward. You can prepare for this drive by using the exposure plan. Take it step by step and use this to push you forward. Let us know how we can help :) Josie, Support Specialist

Hi everyone: I've had panic attacks off an on for over 30 years but they started up again about a year ago and now I'm having several every week. I refused ADs but the doctor did put me on .5mg of ativan. It doesn't do much other than keep me from going to the emergency room. Now I'm having a real prblem contemplating having to make this drive next Sunday.I've done it several times previously but not when my panic attacks have been on this level. I'm afraid to take too much ativan becuase of the driving. I could not go but then I'm afraid it would become another thing I can't do. My mom is 80 and I have to be able to go and visit her. I'm really worried this time though.
