Parents Cause Panic

Hi Violet, I can really relate to what you're going through. I moved in with my parents February 2003. I am 38, but am trying to save money for a house, etc. My dad is an alcoholic and my parents argue all the time. It can get really tense at home. My therapist even told me that the reason my panic has gotten worse is because of what is going on at home. What helps is to get out for awhile, like taking a walk or a drive. I try not to get in the middle of my parents' arguing, but sometimes it's hard because I just want everyone here to get along. It also helps just to go in my room, shut the door and turn on tv or music. I give you credit for going to school full time. Some day soon you will be out of your parents and won't that be wonderful? I only wish that when I was younger, I went to college after high school. (I'm assuming you're younger than me) Anyway, hang in there. Michelle

Dear Violet...I understand how you feel, although I have long since moved out from my parents house...you do not have to hire a hitman...because sooner or later they will die anyway. And after they do, you will still have to deal with the memories of the trauma of what you went through. But, keep this in mind; they are only here for a short time, and they will not control your life to the point they are now even in a few years from now, so bite the bullet and tie a knot and hang on...

Violet, You have come to the right place! Please continue to share your thoughts with us. There are many people within this support group that share the same questions and concerns as you. We are all a group of individuals who support each other. If you look to the left of the screen under "TOOLS" you will find many supportive tests. These tests are not diagnostic tools and are not a replacement or substitute for a physician's advice. The purpose of these tests is to prepare you with information that you can present to your physician. When you're finished the test, you can either print your Final Report or email it directly to your doctor. This will better assess the situation and perhaps your doctor may be able to recommend medication or even therapy, for you and your parents. We also have developed a Panic Program. This program is 12-weeks and involves the tools mentioned above. Each session is based on the previous session, so we strongly advise that you work slowly through the program and not jump ahead. These tests may or may not be for you but they are "free". If you have any question or concerns with our €œTOOLS€, you can contact at support@paniccenter.net. We are the Support Specialist for The Panic Center and are open to any questions or concerns you may have. Looking forward to hearing from you soon! Josie

I don't know if anyone else has this problem. I live with my parents and they drive me crazy. In fact I believe if i didn't live here I wouldn't be so upset. Unfortunatley I attend school full time and don't have the money to support myself to live on my own. They don't get along and complain to me about each other. They both have bad tempers and its like walking on eggshells (has been my whole life). They have no insight into their condition and when I try to say anything about it they get very upset and tell me to get over myself. I realize I should be tougher and more thick skinned but it still brings me to tears even to think about it. Any tips besides calling a hit man?
