Kick in the Head

for 12 år siden 0 4027 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0
Davit,
The duck analogy is good, but not being a duck, escape may be best if I'm not water repellant at the time or resilient.

I've actually been able to deal with it, but it's the exception, rather than the rule.

And I know what's it's like being the person in pain or cantankerous, having a  prickly personality, even though my user name is "hugs4u".

This kick in the head is second hand anxiety and is just as bad if not worse than second hand smoke. Venting on another person does release anxiety but it is the wrong place to do it. Learning to stay out of it's reach is hard to do if you are a naturally caring person. You must though for your own sanity. As I said in another post, it may not be their fault but neither is it yours. Distancing yourself like a duck sheds water is the answer if you can do it. If not then you are going to get hurt.

Hugs,

Take care of you first, as always!

Yes exercise, relaxation or letting off steam can all be a great help to the mind and body.  Even though your schedule is super busy, put it in as part of the schedule.  If it is in there, you will do it.

Remember a few dirty dishes and some chores left for the next day will not be so big of a deal, especially if you nourish your mind and body first.

I never knew what this expression really meant til recently.  A manager of mine once used this expression, and I just thought he meant a difficult time.

While caregiving, a doc made a suggestion, which my parent was unhappy about.  I became the target of her tantrum for days, and it feels like a "kick in the head".

I just wish I could leave the universe.

I also wonder where my "compassion" is, although I know that my reservoir of patience is running dry.

Any suggestions from caregivers?  I know parents of young children literally don't sleep regularly for years, as they build their families  I could tell how much exercise helped when I went out to the gym, and the stress melted away.  But there are chores to do, and I need to be focused on planning, and daily life, without being somebody's emotional punching bag
