Athena... thanks so much for the update. Your honesty and new determination are refreshing and give me renewed incentive to stay on track myself.  Congrats on following through with the counseling.    We are here for you.

It's taken me almost a month to get back here.  m~ your comment that I ask for help and then I disappear really hit home.  I isolate myself and then I feel sorry for myself and believe that no one cares.  Much of your advice makes sense to me too.  I think I need to think of this as a healing journey and not count days.  I need to be honest with myself and everyone here and I need to accept the support of others.

Thank you all for your support.

I have started seeing a counsellor for withdrawal management and I am waiting to be assigned to a regular addictions counsellor in 4-6 weeks.  I am beginning this journey determined to accept the guidance, wisdom and concern of others and to be thankful that I am not alone.  I don't know how I got here but even though I havn't stopped drinking yet, I am hopeful that I can have a better future.

Re framing is a word that they use in the movie industry. The way that I use it is as follows. My life is the movie I give it four stars. This movie has been playing for along time and resently has not been making me much fame and fortune.
Many of the plots have evolved over the year the the villians are worst than ever yet I have created some more footage and destroyed them. Many bad  flashback keep rerunning so some good edits have been made. New and improved  imaging
equipment has come into play,my movie is reaching more people then ever (that would be you fans)xx
As we speak I am writing the script for my next blockbuster. Much depends on state of mind and destiny .
Time for me to get this show on the road.  All the best Em

Hey em... you keep coming back... you keep posting... you keep my hope alive for you and for myself.

It IS hard to let people know how you are when things get bad.  The nice thing about these forums is that we are anonymous.  In a weird sort of  way, we get to deeply know each others' hearts, but I can't identify you or pick you out of a crowd.  I think it is a little bit easier/safer to be visible here than in real life.

Reframing...? I've heard that term before but am not sure what it means.  What does it mean for you to be reframing where you are?

Hi Em & everyone,

As I'm sure you know, when you feel down and no one available to talk to, doctors unavailable etc...
We are always here for you.  The support and outreach you have for one another is inspiring!

Thank you for posting!

hi ~m Thanks for your posts and advise.Athena I hope that you are o.k. One is concerned that people in need are getting the help they requested. I asked at rehab how they tracked the people after they left the program. I was told that they check the
obituaries each week.
When I get really down it is  hard  to let people in on how I am doing. I have also found hospital waits too long doctors offices not open.
What I have been working on is reframing where I am at. Hoping to be the best that I can be. Looking forward to a new day

Athena,
You  ask for help and then disappear.  I will trust that need will bring you back in perfect timing.  Please know that we are here for you when you are ready.  You started a really great thread.  You are not alone in feeling hopeless sometimes.... just want to remind you and everyone else that there is hope.... there is always hope .... and this site gives you specific tools to find it.
So, tonight I am offering gentle cyber hugs (if that is OK) to all who may need it.  We CAN do this.

Don,
That's an amazing success story.   I'm impressed you told your friends right up front about not drinking and persevered even when no one else showed up for the AA meetings.  Wow! That's real determination.  What a relief to have your buddies turn out to be so supportive.  I'm just blown away by your experience.... forget the pill... you've got courage and wisdom as antidotes.  Way to go
