9 years! It feels like forever!

Hi All,

I’ve been thinking what I should write for my 9 year anniversary, which is tomorrow.   As I always do each year, I went to the Hall of Fame and re-read my story to give me inspiration…for some reason, I felt more emotional than in previous years.  I was aware of so many points in it which were relevant to many posts I’ve seen recently.  It’s not a particularly exciting story, just one of a smoker desperately wanting to quit, yet failing at every turn. (Lolly – 2004 for anyone interested.)

For any new quitters or those struggling, I had many attempts to quit, and my one huge regret is that I did not do it sooner.  Had I done so, I might have avoided doing damage to my body over the years.  But take heart, it is now so politically incorrect to smoke, that quitting ought to be easier!

It is not!!!  It may be more difficult to smoke, but it is not any easier to quit!  It is such an addiction that smokers will put themselves through so many hoops, and climb so many obstacles in order to satisfy that craving.  They will come up with so many ‘good’ excuses for having ‘just one.’  You just have to read about smokers puffing away until their last breath to see what a hold Nicotine has on people.  What quitters need is the will to go through those hoops and over those obstacles in order not to smoke!  You need to want to quit more than you want to smoke.

My wish this year, on my 9th Quit Anniversary would be to influence or help someone to have the positive attitude and determination needed to kill off their Nicodemon.  SSC can help.  Without all the help I found here, I doubt if I would have remained quit.  Please, having found this site, read as much as you can, stay close and allow people to help you through the hard times…a forever quit is possible and YOU can do it!

Whatever it takes, just don’t smoke!!!

 Love Lolly.
