Huge congratulations on making it through 4 months with only one little slip-up! I hope that you celebrated your accomplishment well with a well deserved reward in spite of things! Just try to take it one day at a time and plan on doing something nice for yourself each and every day! It will get better, buddy! So, go ahead and reward yourself again today! You deserve it!
Well, other than my life being a complicated mess at the moment (but really, whose life isn't?), I haven't smoked since that stupid weekend, and notwithstanding that slip, today I celebrate 4 months. I'll take the good with the bad. :)
Slips are completely common and sometimes just part of the learning process. It's important that you dont beat yourself up over a slip. What did you learn from this slip?
I'm in agreement with everyone who is saying to learn from it and move on. Now you know why having another one is a bad idea. So don't have any more. To keep on trucking is really all you can do.
Oh crap! Don't you just hate that? If you can just remember to stick to "Not ONE PUFF . . . . EVER!!!!!!" Lemontwist, you can win this thing! We're in your corner, cheering for you. Good luck in banishing the demon from your lemony breath from here on in! Yes you Can.
So sorry to hear that you lost "a" battle in your war with the nico-demon, but I hope that you do learn from this. I know that a huge majority of us quitters have slipped on one or more of our quit attempts. When we slip, we learn once again that this addiction to nicotine is really powerful and that we have to REALLY want our freedom to gain it! What it all boils down to is that we have to commit to N.O.P.E. You know this.
So, now it's time to really analyze the situation. What was the trigger? Could it have been avoided? What will you do when a similar situation pops up? How bad do you really want your freedom? Will you log in and post for help instead of lighting up? This is a learning process, as is everything else in life, and you I do believe that you will learn from this and make a better decision the next time ol' nic starts beating on you!!!
You have fought many battles in your war and only one small battle was lost. Now is the time for your Positive Mental Attitude to kick in and vow to yourself that you will NEVER lose another battle to your nico-demon! Review your personal quit program and coping mechanisms and KNOW that you CAN do this! You made it past those first 100 days smoke free and you can do the next 100, too! Just take it one day at a time and log in often! Post and express what you are going through, rant and rave if you need to, as long as you don't ever get your lips close to a cigarette EVER again!
Keep your eyes on the prize, buddy!!! Freedom is soooo worth it!!! And remember, we are here for you and are rooting for you!!!
