8 years ago, if someone had said I would reach this point, I would have laughed. It's such a long time, (8 years), and, at that time, I was counting each day, and not really looking ahead.
I loved all the mantras everyone used...they helped a lot. Then one day an old quit buddy used one..."Never Look Back! The Future is Ahead!"
This seemed to me such a positive idea related to quitting, that I asked him to allow me to adopt it. How I see it is...we must keep looking ahead to all the positive things that come with quitting, and not mourn the 'old' days of what we used to do, particularly the habit ciggies we had.
Now that I never think of smoking, I still use this mantra in my life. I suppose it is a version of "Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference." That's how I see it anyway. Ultimately, I now write, "Whatever it takes, just don't smoke!" that gives you a successful quit in the long run.
Here I am 'sermonising' again...sorry! I just feel so passionately about helping others to quit, and always hope that a small comment may help someone.-
Never Look Back! The Future is Ahead!
Love Lolly.
