Hi Jeniwho...........

There is a good thread in the archives here that deals with this period of time.  I think it is called "No Man's Land". The words there really helped me through that period of time.  I'll see if I can find it and bump it.  We think we should be past the worst of it and here comes the dragon again full force.  I'm not sure if a lot of people experience cravings after this amount of time, but I would bet that most of us do.  I had some pretty rough days up until about the 6 month mark.  Not constant but there seemed to be some sort of craving cycle that finally started to fade.

These times will start to become farther apart as you go down this road.  Keep your chin up and know that many here are traveling with you.

Good Wishes Jeniwho.........

First of all
Congratulations on your 70 days!
Believe me, it does gets better. I also experienced some strong smoking thoughts around that time but they went away.
I think for me it was something like getting "bored" with the quit but nothing more.

That new sense of smell is going to be one of your favourite things - just you wait and see!  Yep, 70 days is nothing to shake a stick at and you've got that far.  I can't really add anything to what's been said here other than pass on my own secret mojo for you to hang tough and keep on fighting!

Thirty more days to that big century - you can almost smell it, can't you

x T

Thank you everyone, that is so helpful.  I think I just need to become more stubborn and not let this win.  There are so many things I enjoy more about my life right now as a non smoker and I try to remind myself of that.  For some reason when I am smoking I want to quit and when I am not smoking I romanticize the whole "idea" of smoking and try to convince myself that there were enjoyable things about it.  I know there is nothing good about smoking and I am trying to hold onto that.
I can say my sense of smell is getting better. I was at a stop light the other day and three cars behind me someone was smoking and I could smell it!  That's gross!

It definitely gets easier. I do believe that it's true: You have to experience each of the seasons. This is my first winter locked in. I do get low level cravings, probably because I can't run around outside like I did in the spring, summer, and fall. I dream about NOT smoking. I suspect that once I get past this winter, things will get easier again. Hey, don't let that demon scare you. Fear makes him dig his claws in deeper. Just get mad and say, nope! Lance knows. We promised him that it would get easier and it has. But he also did not quit before the miracle happened. Hang with the WINNERS!

jeni,

Believe it or not, that`s right..it is normal!

Your not alone and we are here to help, it will dwindle and you have to refocus.  A trigger may have set it off so back to the basics, avoid, distract and use those coping mechanisms!

Reward yourself, 70 days is great!

Keep on digging, Jeni....I, too, had some pretty strong urges in the 70-80 range.  Something tells me the demon recognizes you are gaining strength and independence and would like to have you back.

Look him in the eyes and say NOPE.....I am in this for ME!!!

You're doing great....

Keep the Quit,

Dave

You bet it does! Thats what everyone told me here. I was going through hell most of the way through. I was rantin and ravin. Doubting my choice to do this and you know what happened? It got better! Just like they said. I understand the concept of living as a non smoker, as opposed to living as a quitter. It just gets normal being free! So, hang in there, sometimes it really sucks, but your close!

Oh Jeni hang on in there- I can honestly tell you it does get easier and easier until eventually you dont think about it at all. 70 days is so amazing, and you know you can do those 30 and reach that 100 which as you so rightly say is a terrific milestone. I think these times do come along when our resolve is tested, but stop and think, would you really want to start all over again when you have come so far? Think of all you've gained against what you have lost- quitting is a win win situation, and you are a winner. Hang tight these times will pass I promise you, and I will be waiting to celebrate your 100 with you.

I have been thinking about smoking alot lately, not sure why.  I dream about it, think about it and I feel so messed up because I thought I was getting better.  I have never made it 100 days before so I am really counting down the next thirty.  I feel like if I can make it past that hurdle I will be ok.  Does it get better??
