Hi everyone, I am new to this forum {day 10). I have been reading the advice since day one and can't tell you how much I appreciate it. The past 2 days have been pretty rough though!! But, I remember the suggestions and the support! and keep telling myself this too shall pass.

Hubby and I are on our third week and I found the second day worse than the first and the second week worse than the first but this week I don't know what happened, the attitude changed I guess but I'm not thinking or craving half as much as the past two weeks. Hubby was the complete opposite and he found week one really bad. When you are going through those weeks you really didn't believe it will ever get better but it does, so hang in there. Hi Karen, my quit day was the 10th. I am using Chantix. I have really tried to take notice of what is going on when the crave hits.. today has been pretty mild. Mt 2 biggest triggers are if I get too hungry or when I get tired. Bottles of water are not far away... I see you are a vet tech.. I love animals .. we have 6 dogs.. 2 of them rescued.. Hang in there sometimes 1 hour at a time.. HI I hope the third week is better for me, I have had such temptations to light up. I have done this cold turkey, but I do have the nicatrol inhaler which I have used a few times. The first week was easy for me, but towards the end of the second is when it seems to be kicking in. It feels like it's getting more difficult to control? Yet I haven't lite up just keep drinking decafe coffee instead. I'm just beginning my third week and it is getting much better. The first couple of weeks I was brushing my teeth with every crave and now I'm getting nice pearly whites but I need a new toothbrush. The Cravings now arent nearly as intense, I can sort of flick them aside. I'm hoping it just keeps getting easier... best wishes to you!

karen Here is one for the pocket protector crowd. When I was going through withdrawal I used to carry a stop watch around. As soon as I started to crave a cigarette I would start the watch, begin doing deep breathing and distract myself in any way possible. Once the crave passed (they always do eventually) I would stop the watch. What I found out was that no crave lasted more than five minutes. Yes Water and ice chips.. I told my husband today.. I feel like I slosh when I walk... There are a lot of tricks and tips here. Some great ones are positive thinking.. picture yourself as a Non smoker, picture yourself not leaving a party to go outside for a smoke, picture yourself dressed up and smelling clean.. come often and read.. use the milestones and diary ..whatever works for you.. As call it nicodemon.. I pictured kind of like TAZ and taking a baseball bat and knocking his head off. When a crave came.. especially after the 4th day.. I said You are a NON smoker, the nicotine has left your body.. what are u nuts to want to put in back in and have to start this all over... Hang in there..... Hi Karen In a previous attempt, I remember it being turned around for me. A snap the first week, but the second was terrible. Likely this is one of the last nicodemon stands. Stay strong, and by the end of week three, things will start looking up. This is a process, and it takes time. Don't look to far ahead. One thing I kept telling myself, and still do, is that it will get better. It always does. Next week, by the way....blah week.
