I never coughed. And I recently had a chest X-Ray and my lungs are all clear! I dunno how it got out of there, but it did.
As far as rewards goes - it's very very important.. it's not just something to do with the money you're saving... the money I saved just got absorbed into our budget because we were overextending ourselves by buying cigarettes.
The process of rewarding yourself helps to open up the serotonin receptors in your brain, and you need to re-open them because they closed when you were smoking because smoking makes your brain overproduce serotonin. Serotonin keeps your mental health well, so by all means - Reward reward and Reward. Every time you make it through stress at work, or a traffic jam, or a visit from mom, or whatever it is that used to inspire you to smoke.. reward yourself! Cook gourmet food, or comfort food, or take a trip to a chocolate store, or to a perfume store, or take a long bath.. buy some essential oils and really stink up your space! See a movie, sit in a jacuzzi, make a long distance phone call, have a pajama day, join a gym!
Just take really really good care of yourself! You're doing the biggest and best thing you've ever done in your life... behave accordingly.
