Hi, Denise. Welcome back. :) Nicotine hijacks the brain's reward/pleasure centers and provides them with continuous stimulation. When you quit, you go into a "reward deficit" which manifests as depression. I've bumped the Rewards, Nicotine, and the Brain thread that explains it in more detail. Make sure you monitor yourself, Denise. Better yet, have a friend monitor you. Wellbutrin does not guarantee you won't experience depression again. I know. I wish you strength and hope in your upcoming quit. Stay close. :) Shevie My Milage: My Quit Date: 5/23/2005 Smoke-Free Days: 602 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 12,040 Amount Saved: $2287.6 Life Gained: Days: 111 Hrs: 20 Mins: 12 Seconds: 16

I am glad you posted your thoughts. I have been where you are, and I know getting back up and starting again as soon as you can is the best. You have been offered lots of support and requests to ask for help next time. Use the people who have offered. We are all in this together. You help me, I help you....right??? Glad to see you back. On with the quit. Hi Denise, I applaud your courage in getting yourself what you need to get back on this journey. I have not experienced depression myself but there was a great thread a loooong while ago called The Big Coverup that may shed some light or offer some insight. Stay close and I hope that you are excited about the start of your new life :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 8/5/2004 Smoke-Free Days: 892 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 17,859 Amount Saved: $4014 Life Gained: Days: 68 Hrs: 20 Mins: 37 Seconds: 56

Parrot, We are happy to have you back with us. Continue to work with your doctor and come up with a plan that is right for you and your body :) By sharing your story you have helped others peek into this addiction and what it can do.
