HECK WEEK!

Terry, The reason for this anger or feeling upset is justified. Dopamine is a chemical in your brain, triggered by nicotine and responsible for good mood. When you quit, nicotine doesn't trigger dopamine anymore so your mood takes a nose dive. The result? Anger, sadness, irritability. Keep persevering! It passes. A reward for all your hard work these past can help you mood pick up. You could also try some exercise as it also stimulates dopamine and adrenaline secretion. As for your dry mouth, make sure your drinking lots of fluids. Keep a glass of water beside your bed and night and everytime you wake up take a little sip. You're doing great! Stay strong! I'm not totally convinced that the nicotine is all out of my body yet. Just the dryness of my mouth when I am sleeping and the anxiety. Whatever it is it will be gone soon enough. Hey, Terry! No one talks about it or why it happens, but the more I stick around here the more I am convinced that something occurs around the 9-11 day mark. Those were really hard days for me and I've seen so many others post about having a difficult time then as well. Good for you you're on day 11 today! Glad you're feeling a better! Keep it up, you're doing great! Congrats on completing hell week! :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 8/25/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 186 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 5,580 Amount Saved: $1,088.10 Life Gained: Days: 16 Hrs: 19 Mins: 59 Seconds: 3

So I've been told that the second week is heck week. Hell week wasn't really all that bad so I'm hoping this week will be better. Today was very trying at work and I did notice for the last few days that some things made me angry or upset quicker than usual. Thankfully I have another program that has tought me to respond rather than react so that has helped a great deal. I'm pretty much at peace MOST times.
