This has always been a big worry of mine. My HR and BP are low, real low. That was as a smoker. As a non-smoker, who knows. Maybe lowering HR and BP is what's making me so gosh darn tired all the time. i've heard/read that the very fact of smoking makes one burn around 200cals a day. unless we counter this extra calorie intake (ideally with exercise) then we will gain weight on a quit. I've mainly lost the weight i had gained during my quit, but now my body is different. before i quit i never Really dieted, and if I gained half a kilo or so, I would be SLIGHTLY careful for a couple of days, and hey presto, back to normal.. Nowadays, to keep my weight is pretty much a constant battle. I think this is due to 2 things 1. the lack of nicotine, and secondly, I believe that when I quit it was such a shock to my system (I had been poisoning it for all those years) that my body aged and my metabolism slowed down. It could also be due to the fact that I quit just before I turned 30, and the change in metabolism would have still occurred as part of the ageing process! Bottom line is even with a few extra pounds (which I know are difficult to live with) a non smoker still looks better skin is better, eyes are brighter, smell is better and were not wrinkling up our face to suck on a cancer stick any more!
