NO MAN'S LAND - 30-100+ days

And in case you didn't notice, 65 days is smack dab in the middle of no man's land. Going back is not an option, but forward seems a long way off too. Thanks for this post. I had been monitoring the lists for the past week or more with nothing that seemed to interest me until this - which makes total sense. Perhaps there should be a "No Man's Land" Forum Title? Phreaknbz is right that we need to create some significant milestones between 30 and 100 days, and they need to feel as significant as 1 week, 3 weeks, etc. My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/21/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 65 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 849 Amount Saved: $390 Life Gained: Days: 9 Hrs: 6 Mins: 8 Seconds: 27

Not there yet but now that I know what is ahead, I can be somewhat prepared or at least concious of what is happening. Very insperational! Good post.. I guess I am in no mans lands now.. I keep looking foward to 100 days, it seems like the next big milestone. I am going to celebrate 60 days though.. that is coming pretty quick here. It is amazing how often I think, well, I know I would have more energy if I smoked.. but I also know that if I just hang in there the energy will come back as my brain continues to adjust to no nicotine. So, I will wait, I will keep being patient with myself, I will look forward to the day that I feel "normal" without cigarettes. I can't believe that I still don't feel that way. I guess I will find a new normal as I create the habits that will take the place of smoking. I really believe that I wont go back to smoking. The memory of week 3 keeps me going ;-). I was so miserable and I don't want to EVER do that again. I look forward to the days where smoking is not something I even consider. Fish, Wow 98 days! I'm glad the post helped you. It really helped me too. Even though you have one foot in no man's land you really are an inspiration to alot of people. Can you believe you are almost to 100 days? I am right behind you and can't wait to get there. This was posted by IWIN originally for the benefit of redrosie. I saved it to my quit journal as it was helpful to me, too. I'm still in No man's land, but I think the corner is in sight... Dear Redrosie, Please read this post that I got off of another site. I felt the same as you the other day and then I read this and felt much better. I know it is long but try and read the whole thing. I think you will be glad you did. It really does relate to us. From tc_guy 5/7/2002 Peace to all who read this. I seldom start a post, unless it is to honor someone's anniversary. But I feel compelled to share something that I seem to be sharing a lot of lately... and that is my thoughts on 'No Man's Land'. No Man's Land is a dangerous and scary place... and it is a lonely time during a quit. I call No Man's Land that period of time between about 1 month and 3 or 4 months into your quit, or about the time from the end of your first month until you become an Elder. This is a time when many people slip and go into a full relapse and have to start over... if they can start over, that is. I have some observations that may help some of you who are literally hanging on by your fingernails... or who may find yourself there tomorrow. The first month is an exhausting but exhilirating experience... you are locked in nearly daily struggles and you get the satisfaction of successfully beating your addiction that day. You go to bed a WINNER each night (as Troutnut would say), and you are justifiably proud of yourself. Your friends and family are also supportive as they see you struggling each day to maintain your quit. And you are being constantly supported here, whether or not you post... just being here is good for your quit. And so, the battles are won and it actually becomes easier and the battles occur less often as you finish 30 days or so. Around 60 days, you're starting to have some really good days, with very few craves and some nice insights about yourself... but then again, you still have some bad days. Those bad days can really be depressing... you begin to wonder if you're ever gonna be able to relax. Your junkie is whispering to you, telling you that 'just one' won't hurt. You've conquered your daily triggers, but now you start trippiing ov
