If you think about it, thats just what it is...smoking is the perfect poster boy for hyper captitalism...It creates its own need, then by the mechanism of addiction, recreates its own need perpetually...It is in fact the ultimate self-propelled money making machine...Its a pretty ingenious trap...
Mind you now I happen to think that of all the economic systems in existance capitalism with all of its ability to exploit and highlight the worst in humans is the best of all the worst choices for humans to perpetuate themselves...But the tobaco industry is a case study in capitalism taken to the extreme...Not only is it private industry dealing death for profit, but the government is also a willing conspiritor...That is why we will never see the end of the industry, it was bought and paid for years ago...
However, that does not mean the situation is hopeless...We as individuals have the ability, strength and insight to opt out of the system at any time...ALL WE HAVE TO DO IS NOT SMOKE...
I ain't goin down the rabbit hole no more. how about you?
