So that's what they call this, this...slump. Now it has a name. No man's land, kinda like puberty. An adult wannabe seeking out maturity, whilst denying the inexperience of youth still dominant. No man's land. That's where I am. Me thinks I need to walk very humbly through no man's land. Me thinks it can be a deceptive place, and thus dangerous. :8o: My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/16/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 71 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,432 Amount Saved: $198.8 Life Gained: Days: 6 Hrs: 23 Mins: 12 Seconds: 17

Hi tryagain, I dropped off the patch last week (from 7mg to zero). I found it uncomfortable for a couple days, but by the third or fourth day I was fine. (I still wonder if I shouldn't just have done it cold turkey from the start ...) Anyway - now totally nic free and wondering what's next... 100 days I guess, but my real next milestone is the day I go 24 hours or more without a crave. Sunshine, Just wanted to drop you a line and say how good it always is to see a post from you. Glad to see you are doing well. It is nice to have someone who quit so close to when I did and to see they are still doing good. Very relevant to me to and a great post for some inspiration. I haven't posted for a bit as I recently went through a really, really negative phase. Actually, I don't think it was the quit but lots of other stuff. However, I have definitely noticed a very big chnage over the past week or so. Feels much more like a breeze than it ever has before. I never did intend smoking. I promised myself that no matter how bad things got or what rubbish came up in my life, my personal "milestone" (after which I will reconsider!) would be 18 months smoke-free. So, miserable, up, down, hungry, tired, sad, mad(!) it was something to be got through but not something to smoke over. I think this thread might well flag up a very important "milestone" for others to hang on to. Sometimes, the hanging on is really all it takes. TryAgain, I am sorry for the death in your family. Don't worry about the withdrawal after getting off the NRT. It is not bad, and if you feel like you need more time, I did cut mine and stayed on a few more weeks. I worried too that it would be hard everytime I needed to step down a level, but when the time came it was fine. I too had to deal with alot of stress for the whole first year of my quit and beyond. Right now I am dealing with Alzheimers and cancer in my family. The thing that helped me was the exact same thing that Determined said. I was not going to throw away the days I had under my belt. I knew one day it would get better and I was realistic in how long that might take. Doing something everyday for years is going to take more then a few months to go away. It took a little over a year for me to never think about smoking. I think after smoking for 30 years that is a pretty good deal. As time goes on you will find you think about it less and less. 60 days is a long time to a smoker. You should be very proud of yourself. Keep on going because smoking will not change one thing that is going on your life. I promise you it will get better. Thanks for this post. I needed it right now, at my 60 day mark and feeling just terrible with a death in the family. It will all go away. I just don't know when, and I know I have a quit milestone ahead when I get off the NRT completely and deal with those withdrawals. I hope those aren't too bad, not as bad as this.

Oh do I rmewmber those days. You guys are going to make it. I remember wondering if I would. Im doing great. Besides this board, one of the other things that got me through is that I wasn't willing to give up the time I had already quit. NO WAY. That was one of the things that was mine and I wouldn't give it up to anyone for any reason. You guys will get through this if you want to. I think you want to. Good Luck even though I dont think you will need it. You didn't get this far because you were willing to give it up. :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/6/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 386 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 10,438 Amount Saved: $2316 Life Gained: Days: 44 Hrs: 21 Mins: 31 Seconds: 4
