For those of you who know me, my dad died late last year from lung cancer. Yes, from smoking. He had a 1/2 a lung removed the year before and was given a very good chance of a total recovery but he CHOSE to continue to smoke. It broke my heart because I knew that the cancer would inevitably come back and that there would be no more 2nd chances. Well the cancer spread into the other lung as a result of his abuse to his body and left everyone around him very sad and quite confused. I learned from a number of member's here that this is quite common and that some people cannot change their behaviour, even with the knowledge of what is ahead of them. If my dad had lived he would have turned 71 today. I miss him so much.. I loved him greatly. I am the only one in my whole family (on both sides) that is a non smoker - I have broken the cycle and for that I am proud. But for today this will be the 1st time when I will not be calling or seeing my dad on his birthday. Happy Birthday dad... Monica xo
