Hi, Changing!
I thought it would be a good idea for a couple of reasons. First, I had been gaining weight even before I quit, and I needed to drop about 15 pounds to get back to "fighting weight." Second, I really wanted to clear all the crud out of my body from all those years of smoking. Nobody mentioned the idea of craving reduction, that just kinda happened.
I've now lost the majority of weight that I wanted to, and in five more pounds I will weigh less than I have since my college days, and have more muscle mass to boot. This can be an emotional process too, even though I don't have the kind of emotional relationship with food that many people do, and it has changed how I look at my food. I'm really into the subtleties of the flavors and textures of everything I eat now, and pay a lot more attention to it, in a good way.
