Change the channel.... "I feel bad today" It's a feeling that you are now believing because you told yourself you feel bad. "I feel xxxx today." Find something positive to replace that with. I mean everyday can be wonderful and meaningful if you make it so. What are you doing to stay busy...to distract yourself? If you are doing nothing but dwelling on your feelings, you're wasting your day and dwelling on them only reinforces them. WHAT THINGS DID YOU used to do and enjoy, BEFORE?

Kitcat I feel bad today.I canot seem to pick myself up today.I feel like life is not worth living today. What amorbid thought. I sat and mediated for an hour which helped some.

Yes, and of course, you know not only CAN you do it, (cuz you can) but ONLY YOU can do it. No one else. And no amount of just talking about it will make it happen, either. IT'S THE DOING IT, that brings about the eventual freedom from it. So get busy, would ya? :)

Runner, Make a list of all the good things at your school. What do (or did) you love about your job? Think about all the parents who think you are wonderful. All the people in your community who count on you to teach there children. Think of all the lives you have touched, and the people who (because of you) are doing great in this world. I worship my childrens teachers!!! I bet there are so many people who fell the same way about you. I bet the kids miss you. Think of seeing all the other teachers who have been concerned about you, won't it be great to see them? THINK POSITIVE!!! This is a freah new start, that's pretty exciting! YOU WILL DO IT!!!!! I can't wait to see your posts on Monday!! We will all have to have a glass of champange in your honor. S

In a way, yes. It will be pretending at first, but eventually, it becomes just a part of you...meaning that when we think constantly about symptoms not only does it reinforce them, but how can thinking about symptoms constantly be positive? It's my opnion, it can't be positive, so by eliminating it, you force yourself to replace it with something truly positive... So what, at first, may feel like pretending, eventually it won't be...BECAUSE those negative feelings will tend to disappear and you won't need to pretend. Because you've made them welcome, you will be very conscious of when you at first, make them UNWELCOME!! Yes, do as many of the normal things as possible..hopefully things you enjoy. So in response to your question, yes.... :)

Thanks Runner.... However, I must say, that what you will have to go through, will be on your own. You need to learn how to coax yourself through those times when you may be tempted to cave in to it. There won't be anyone else going through it except you, so it makes sense that you need to learn how to do "self-talk" that builds you up. To completely defeat this, you will have to learn how to do this on your own. And actually I don't know if you've noticed,, but we're not really talking about anxiety and fears, we're talking about how to conquer them and live without them. THERE IS A BIG difference, because I believe that simply talking about them reinforces them. Instead you almost have to have the mindset that they no longer exist or have any control over you. Sort of blocking them out, like we talked about. If you think about symptoms, you give them life. If you choose to ignore them, then they slowly die...that is where the distraction comes into play. Do you understand, that to constantly talk about how you feel especially if you think of negative terms, it will be reality. Instead, you need to imagine yourself, as **well,** (without any symptoms,) live a normal and free life, as it was meant to be. Free, doesn't mean without obstacles, etc, free, means without unreasonable fear and hesitiation. Everyone has the ability within themselves to choose to feed themselves positives; you do too. Practice it, and it will become the norm... :)
