I've Gained Weight

Hudson - I remember lying in bed totally depressed contemplating liposuction and thinking that there was never going to be any fun again. (I hate carrot sticks too!) I like to eat and I don't think that's going to stop so the most important part for me was to exercise alot (so I could eat more) I am actually discovering foods that taste good and are low fat. Fruit smoothies are my favourite! I've lost the weight I gained and now I'm aiming for another 15 lbs. You are still very early in your quit so your metabolism is probably still sorting itself out. I honestly think it will get better in time. Protect your quit first and foremost, exercise, drink lots of water and make sure you still "reward" yourself with those treats once in awhile. Congrats on 4 weeks - You should be very proud of yourself! Todash, A great plan but you may find it easier to start small and get into the habit of exercising daily. Introducing new lifestyle changes slowly helps to make them stick as they are easier to keep up with. As time passes and keeping up with physical activity is habit, you can increase the level of difficulty. Danielle ________________________ The SSC Support Team

Quilt - You sound so grounded, positive, and wise. You're 3 days ahead of me...will I become grounded, positive, and wise by this weekend? ;p My Milage: My Quit Date: 2/24/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 18 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 652 Amount Saved: $117 Life Gained: Days: 1 Hrs: 13 Mins: 40 Seconds: 14

Members, Your body is going through many changes, for the better! Almost all smokers notice this. You may tend to eat more than you used to. Your body's absorption of food is improved as well, so you will gain more nourishment even if you don't eat more. How long will this last? The first few weeks after quitting. Tips to help: Try low calorie snacks or beverages. It will take time, so be patient. Also check with your doctor or nutritionist to come up with a plan that is right for you :) If you have a symptom that persists or seems worse than you expected, you should immediately consult a doctor. Its possible that your smoking has been masking symptoms of some illness, and when you stop smoking the symptoms abruptly become noticeable. Josie _____________________ The SSC Support Team.

Why not take a fun yoga or pilates class? Go hiking or swimming? If you like it then you will be more inclined to indulge in it :) Josie ______________________ The SSC Support Team.

Hudson, Let's try low calorie snacks and veggies. Take the time to plan your meals and snacks. Keep your portions low and drink lots of water. You can also check with your doctor to come up with a plan that is right for you :) It will take time, so keep going! Josie _____________________ The SSC Support Team.
