Drinking more beer with quitting

One thing I have always kept a watch on is substitutes. I have never been one to overeat, and when I quit I find myself stuffing chocolates in my mouth. Why? Because I'm craving something. It's cigarettes of course. I am also not a drinker. I was, early in this quit, starting to consume alochol. Why? Because I'm craving something. It's cigarettes of course. If you are consuming something differently that you did before you quit, you are substituting. You need to take a look at that, and start getting to the bottom of the reason for those cravings. I think it is good that you recognize this and know that it is something you need to watch. It will take us time to find the proper substitutions. Be kind to yourself, but don't be easy on yourself. It would have been a difficult proposoition to drink more beer when I quit and quite possibly a physical impossibility but I did manage to maintain my regular intake at that time; it was great to have the excuse of calling it a "reward". :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 5/18/2004 Smoke-Free Days: 1000 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 20,008 Amount Saved: 5000 Life Gained: Days: 163 Hrs: 0 Mins: 49 Seconds: 22
