Selfish is okay, Sharon. If that's what it takes to keep your quit, you be all the selfish you need to be. There is no harm in caring for yourself. It ain't no sin to be glad you're alive. :) Shevie My Milage: My Quit Date: 5/23/2005 Smoke-Free Days: 606 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 12,120 Amount Saved: $2302.8 Life Gained: Days: 112 Hrs: 14 Mins: 5 Seconds: 33

Deep breaths, Sparky. Slowly in, count to 5, slowly out, count to 5, repeat. Focus on positives as youd do. If you can't seem to do that, then just focus on your breathing and your body. It is hard when your friends are hurting and there's nothing you can do to help. The best thing you can do now is to take care of yourself so you can be there for them when they need you. Without stinking of smoke. There is a "down" time around 30 days, or so, that many go through. You may be there now, and that along with all the other stuff is really dragging you down. Stay close, Sparky. Let us help you through this, just as you will help your friends. Don't compare yourself to others. I've felt that jealousy, too. It goes nowhere. Let it go. It is times like this where we have to bet back to basics. YES, you have a desire to smoke. It is going to come over you whether you like it. You can not run away. It is not bigger than you. Accept it. Believe that as long as you don't give in the desires will become less and less frequent and less and less intense, until most of the time we will feel like non-smokers. YOU ARE NOT DEPRIVED. You can smoke. No one is stopping you. But you will never be a happy comfortable smoker ever again. ONE IS NEVER ENOUGH. You cannot smoke when the going gets tough. We are addicts and if we smoke one, we will smoke again. YOU HAVE A CHOICE. You can give in and go back to the misery of smoking or you can accept it, work your way through it for some amazing benefits (you have the list). MAKE YOUR CHOICE. Sharon, sorry I wasn't there for you last night. But I am happy that your dear friend was. I know you have been through a lot and are going through a lot. Isn't it wonderful that we are all in this symbiotic relationship? We need you and you need us. That is what friends are and that is what love is. I'm thinking of you today.
