Is this really all in my head?

Maggie - Try this response on them: "While it's true that nicotine and its metabolites are out of the body within about 72 hours, smoking alters the number and distribution of the acetylcholine receptors within the brain and the re-establishment of normal neurotransmitter function takes significantly longer." It's true, it should shut them right up, and it might feel really good to shut down their judgemental comments with a little hard science. ;) My Milage: My Quit Date: 10/26/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 1 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 22 Amount Saved: $3.25 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 3 Mins: 41 Seconds: 2

When you consider there are 4,000 different chemicals in smoking tobacco, it makes since that, just because the nicotine is gone in 3-5 days, there might be some other crap hanging around. It doesn't surprise me if someone says they have a crave at a later time. It's their body and it's not up to me to say they aren't. In any case, once you get past all the physical withdrawals and other physical symptoms, there still is that part in the mind to deal with. Mind or body, every quit is different. Maggie, Do what you need to justify and validate your quit! You are to protect your quit and you alone can feel what this quit is doing for you. If you need to talk about it we are always here to support you :) Do not let anyone come between you are your quit :) Keep Strong, Josie _____________________ The SSC Support Team.
