hey gals, This is the start of my 3rd day, and it isnt easy. That darn junkie in my head thinks that it will win, but I am not going to allow it. Tell the cravings to go away, you dont want a cigarette. I am waiting for it to get easier and I know that it will. We just have to have patience and power over these killers. I am there with you. I'm hugging you from afar. I know it's so hard those first few days. They do not call it Hell week because it's a walk in the park. But it will get easier, you just have to be strong and make it to the easy point. This is my 4th fantastic day in a row. I actually got gas last night, walked in to pay and never even thought about purchasing a pack of cigs. 1st time, and I was just so happy when I realized what had happened. What are you going to reward yourself with after completeing your 1st week? LOL at Phil! It's true though, we will come and get you! Substitution and distraction is what helped me so much. Whatever I used to do and was a trigger to smoke I immediately changed all those habits. It took me a while, several days actually, of monitoring my daily routines and doing the opposite. The opposite included lots of walks, breathing exercises, and yes eating a lot of crap from my crave cart.. which by the way has been switched over to a very healthy crave cart! The mind has to be tricked into NOT wanting that smoke and you can do it! Sending much support your way.. and many hugz.... http://www.stopsmokingcenter.net/support/viewmessages.aspx?topic=30764&forum=1 I strongly reccommend this thread to you ladies; if you keep telling yourself or even just saying out loud "I want to smoke" that's going to do the opposite of what you want, which is to focus your attention away from smokes. Thinking positive also means wording the things you say to yourself differently. Like, "of course I am feeling cravings, but I choose not to smoke". It's a choice, one you have absolute power over. You have all chosen freedom. It's awesome! Cinda, Hang in ther hon. The first few days can be tough, but also temporary. Distract yourself, get some gum or mints. Or even bottle water. Your body is now in recovery from an addiction. It is so worth it. This is a faboluos thing you are doing for yourself. When you conquer a major crave, have a small reward planned out. You can do it. Come here and read and post often.
