Happiness is
- Waking up to my furry pals sleeping on the foot of my bed
- Watching the hummingbirds dance and dip around their feeders, stoking up for their long journey across the Gulf of Mexico
- Photographing the butterflies that are migrating right now and stopping at my garden for a sip of nectar
- Catching a glimpse of the elusive gopher tortoises sunning on the aprons of their holes
- Early Saturday mornings listening to BBC World News on NPR and writing
- Being with my students who are working so very hard to learn to speak and read English
- Phone calls from my children who are so very far away, but as close as the telephone and internet
- Knowing that I was able to quit smoking and now I can pretty much do anything I set my mind to
