Hi RVDMan I remember, seems like a long long time ago, when I read your posts, I would think, this man's quit is as difficult as mine, if he can do it I can do it. And we're still doing it, I will be 300 days tomorrow, this seems like a huge milestone to me. I don't like the smell of cigarette smoke anymore but I don't complain about it, I just go my merry way. My home is smoke free and my family is so happy about that (all of them non-smokers). I assist non-smoking help groups here at our local health chapter. I tell them the truth about quitting and what I went through, so it helps them as I have had such a hard time of it, they seem to think: well it's not that bad for me (LOL), I do this once a month, every new session. So happy you're doing great, just stay away from fresh lit ciggies LOL and you'll be fine. Take care, one day at a time Marie Hugs My Milage: My Quit Date: 6/13/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 299 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 5,090 Amount Saved: $1943.5 Life Gained: Days: 39 Hrs: 22 Mins: 15 Seconds: 26

Phillip you sound wonderful. I am so glad that life is so beautiful for you. Like you, I won't smoke. I can't even imagine an occasion where I would. It is just not a part of my life or my thinking anymore. You are such an inspiration...carry on, my good man! Nice to hear from you, Phillip. As I'm nearing the 3 month mark, I have to say that there are times I miss smoking. I'm of a mindset now though, that I just wouldn't do it. I've come this far and to be truthful, I DON'T want to go through the beginnings of my quit again. I'm very happy with my achievements right now. I think for a while though, it something we have to work at every day. Its nice to be smoke free!!!! Beagles love non smokers for sure. Have a good one, Cheers, Jan My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/13/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 83 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 2,509 Amount Saved: $747 Life Gained: Days: 9 Hrs: 9 Mins: 42 Seconds: 9

Here I am. A holiday here in Toronto. Cold minus 5 or minus 15 with the wind chill. Wondering a bit about my reason for posting here, cause life does move on. So just letting go a bit and celebrating 59 weeks of being quit. Life progresses and really does move. I have been swimming really hard, working to loose a few pounds gained in February. The swimming brings me to the edge both breathing and in belief. Can I do this? Can I make it? The answer always is yes, with some degree of eventually thrown in. I always get to the other side. Last night I got to the other side doing freestyle, a first for me. I swam 200 metres without a break, without running out of breath and with totally crapping out. This was great cause for celebration and something that I have been working on for the same amount of time I have been smoke free. Through curiosity, commitment, dedication and patience with persistence I swam those 200 metres, not once but 6 times. I survived and stumbled out of the pool, scurried home to walk the dog, have a wonderful bubble bath and crawl into bed. There are some things that are worth pursuing. I have to say that I don't write here all that often as I simply don't have the same time and focus I had a year ago. I finally feel like I don't smoke and I finally trust that I won't. I do however feel great longing as I stand beside someone smoking. The smell of fresh cigarette smoke smells pleasant to me. Kind of like a campfire or something else that is equally pleasing. I can't say that I hate that smell, especially when I don't. I do distrust what happens to me when I am near that particular smell. So call me a liar or you can view this as F%^&*#d up but that is the way it is for me. I know I will never ever smoke. I am actually happy that I am not a rabid ex-smoker, thinking, saying and holding smokers in the light of being stupid or dumb or even ignorant. I do have to say that I feel sorry that there are so many people that smoke. They loose sight of the temple that their body is and are deeply entrenched in the addiction created by nicotine. I don't hate them or envy them and I do feel sad and sorry that they are slowly killing themselves. As always there is a brighter and happier side, as with anything in my life. The effect of my big r

Good for you Riverdale! Maybe we will pass each other IN an airport some day, not outside catching a quick puff between flights : ) My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/22/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 26 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,073 Amount Saved: $176.8 Life Gained: Days: 3 Hrs: 16 Mins: 39 Seconds: 21
