Today was Eat Fat for Breakfast Day! Sundays my husband loves a great big fatty breakfast so that's what we do. I make up for it the rest of the week. b - scrambled eggs with cheese, biscuits with butter and peach preserves, bacon l - chai latte smoothie after the gym s - grapes d - lean pork chops grilled, white acre peas, spinach. I did 15 minutes on the bike and 35 minutes on the treadmill. My goal this week is exercise everyday but Wednesday, my teaching night. Now that the time has changed I should be able to walk after work. Adam, just like the desire to quit smoking, the desire to have a healthier body comes from within you. When you eat healthy and clean, you will be able to maintain or control your weight. Like quitting smoking, it isn't easy. Like quitting smoking, it isn't something you just do now, and then go back later to stuffing yourself with cheeseburgers and fries. It is a new way of living, a way of honoring your body. What can you stuff yourself with? Water, carrots, celery, pretty much any kind of vegetable, watermelon, cantaloupe, apples. Those are just a few...I'm sure others can add more. Take a look at our posts where we write what we eat...that will give you some great ideas! Charlie Girl, one of the diet rules is that Valentine's chocolate has no calories! HAHAHAHA! The bad news is that you can't throw it out, because then husband will be confused and paralyzed when it's time to buy you a gift again. So put it in the freezer. That way, you can take a piece out every now and then and by the time it thaws, you will eat it very, very slowly and it won't hurt you. Or, you could just do like me and eat all of it in two days. :p I've been on the road since Sunday afternoon. For lunch Sunday, I stopped at Border's and ate a healthy-looking sandwich and drank some tea. For supper I ate leftover pizza I had brought with me. Monday I ate yogurt and GoLean for breakfast, chicken salad sandwich for lunch, and grilled salmon and steamed veggies for dinner. Today, more yogurt and GoLean, then a pasta bowl at Applebee's on my way home. Dinner will be little steaks and some kind of something else. I don't think I did too bad on my trip, except I need to stay away from the high-calorie Chai Lattes from Starbucks. I bought a little portable DVD player for my trips, so I can take Leslie wherever I go now! Lady, you need to make sure you are getting [b]enough[/b] calories. Otherwise, your body is going to store up what little calories you are receiving as fat and you won't burn them. I'll find a post from 3fatchicks about it and add it here. I have eaten an entire box of Girl Scout cookies in a week. By myself. I guess the good news is that I didn't eat them in one sitting. Today's menu: b - bowl of Kashi and skim milk, coffee l - chicken and brown rice salad, water s - grapes, 3 Musketeers bar d - chicken and brown rice salad (it's gone now.) I also did 20 minutes of cardio and 20 minutes of upper and lower with Denise Austin. Hi everybody, wow, we're all in the grumps this week. I haven't been to the Y since Monday...seems like life keeps interfering with my life! Yesterday I didn't feel like I ate too good - scrambled eggs, toast and bacon for breakfast and then homemade pizza for supper but it only came to 1,253 calories. I've got to drive to Orlando this afternoon and back Tuesday afternoon. I'm taking my exercise dvds with me, and hopefully the hotel will have a bike. I made a 1-year thread for Duffis (One Year for the Big Man)...please go there and congratulate him heartily!!! Okay, where is everybody? I went to the site Arielle mentioned and I like it! It's sort of like FitDay, but a little different. It reinforces what I've been afraid of...I haven't been eating enough calories. They talk a lot about this on the other site I use, about how you can really nudge your weight loss if you make sure you're getting enough. I'm allowed 1200-1500 a day, and I'm only averaging 1,000. So far, so good today. Hey Lana, I really like Sparkpeople, too! I started out using fitday and I still go to 3fatchicks for the forums, but sparkpeople has so much info, it's amazing! I was always a small thin person and like you, at menopause starting putting on weight around the middle. One book I read (Body for Life for Women) called it "meno-pot".) Then when I quit smoking, another 10 pounds. So I started walking and exercising, too, which is a challenge sometimes with my arthritis. But it is so great to not be a smoker, isn't it? It's like removing one big giant obstacle that discolored everything about my life! Rusty :)

Lady, there is no way that 426 calories a day is good for you. Please go to one of the other sites and read up on it (3fatchicks or sparkpeople)...sorry to lecture. :) I have been having a medication drama. I felt so good and then had a major flareup Sunday night and Monday morning. Thought I had broken my wrist in the middle of the night because I couldn't even pick up a bottle of water or a cup of coffee. Husband took me to the doctor Monday and they put me on a pulse pack of Prednisone (a steroid). The good news is that it started working on the inflammation almost immediately and all my arthritis pains (hips, feet, wrist) are gone for now. The bad news is that the prednisone is making me so ill... queasy and hyper. Fortunately I only have to take it through Saturday. The good news is that somehow my weight also went down by 3 pounds overnight. I can only speculate that all the inflammation was making me retain fluid. I've also been eating very clean during the past 4 or 5 days, but I doubt that accounts for the rapid loss. Check in later! Rusty :)

Cheryl, I didn't know you had similar issues (did I?). I also thought Enbrel kicked in quicker than that. I will ultimately have to do the Enbrel/Humira route or the Remicaid IV thing. I'm postponing them both as long as I can...needle phobia. My prednisone is only for 6 days...6 the first day, 5 the second, etc. So tomorrow is my last day, but it has really made me feel ill all week. I've been tracking my foods on sparkpeople and I really like it better than fitday. Wednesday: b - yogurt smoothie s - apple l - tuna on wholewheat pita s - banana d - chicken and brown rice salad on pita, flan Yesterday: b - peach yogurt mixed with GoLean l - chicken scampi and salad at Olive Garden, water s - 2 thin mints d - bistec a la mexicana, refritos y arroz, water Today will be yogurt and GoLean for breakfast, a gyro with feta at a Greek place in town, and chicken/brown rice salad for dinner.
