Duffis I am so sorry about JR but really HAPPY to hear he is going to OK!! I have a cat and he is 6 yrs now. I know he snores (lol) which may just be his thing ;) but I have noticed his breath and it is mighty stinky. He is due for a checkup anyway, so I'll see what is up with his mouth. It may be his teeth, even though they look alright to me besides maybe needing a cleaning. I totlally agree about the affects of the smoke floating all over the place and our ignorance of where that smoke is really going when we blow it out. It is really sad, but we can't beat ourselves up over something that we had lost control over. It's time to stay strong because we HAVE regained that control and will not allow it any longer. I know many people want to stop because they have kids. Is a pet not like a child as well? Did we fail to see them as part of the family too? If we can think about the future a little for a second, think about what it would be like to say goodbye to our furry friends because of what disease they have from the smoking. What is the first thing you think of? Brings a tear up doesn't it? Thanks for shining a big light on this subject, Duffis. My heart goes out to you. I know my 2 cats have been through a lot with me puffing away; they didn't know...they just want to be close to me. Buster has an occasional wheeze. Hello Duffis & Pete, I just came across this. That breaks my heart that your friend was ill. But thankful that he is getting better! Dogs have a natural way of expressing their healing..... I am just glad he is almost back to normal!! I swear I never smoked in my house. This house. This is where my kids live, but before they were born, I smoked away. With the same pets that I have now. I never thought of the smoke that our pets endure! Now that I think of it, they might as well just smoked alongside me. Thank you for posting this. duffis - My heart was breaking when I read through this thread. I have two pups of my own and didn't even think about it when I sat with them on the porch smoking like a fiend. I am so thankful that those days are over - but who knows?? has the damage already been done?? It's hurting my head and heart to think about it. I'm so glad that JR is 100% and back on the mend. I'm so sorry to hear about JR, Duffis. I understand fully just how close you can become to a pet. I'm glad to hear he will be okay. Just to add to what you've said, not to grind on you but as a warning to others, not only do our pets breath the smoke in, but they also ingest it when the lick their fur.
