Cipralex

Hi Rayne, Don't worry you are right about Cipralex being Lexapro aka Escitalopram. It must be the equivalent of the Canadian brand. I believe now that you reported the same symptom that I had on the lower dose of this medication that probably this is the medication that most likely caused my side effect of yawning too. It was pretty bad for a few weeks. I felt like I couldn't breathe right and it was hard to get a full breathe of air when I inhaled. I am only assuming that when the doctor increased my medication that the symptom went away, but I would definitely tell your doctor and see what the psy says about this. This is great to be able to educate ourselves about our own illness and be proactive. Thanks for your input also it helps me too.

Just an FYI... I was just updating my mood tracker and yes Lexapro is the same as Cipralex. (Don't know why they just can't call them the same thing) Boy this sure seems to be the drug of the decade doesn't it? Take care all!

Thank you!!! I thought I was going crazy. I am so glad I am not the only one. (Not that I wish anyone else to have this!)It never has happened to me before so I was really concerned about it. I still seem to be getting it but not as often as before but the yawning is still there. Oh well...better than depression that's for sure! Cipralex may be the Canadian name. the drug name is escitalopram. I am not sure if it is the equivalent of Lexapro but the side effects are similar aren't they? I am going to try meditation (I've been meaning to for years) and hopefully sign up for a yoga class. Just not sure if I can bend myself into a pretzel now. Thanks Snuggles 7358 and Wishingwell I feel better knowing I'm not alone. ;p

Hi Rayne & Snuggles, I am on Lexapro, but on a higher dose than normally suggested. My doctor increased it to 40 mg about 2 weeks ago. I too experienced the side effect of yawning and not being able to get enough oxygen in my lungs when I breathed in. This happened about a month or so ago. But I'm not sure what actually caused it because I am on more than one medication so I don't know which one actually caused this reaction. But I think it could have been the Vistaril or even the lower dose of Lexapro because now I don't seem to have this side effect anymore. Hope this helps, but I would bring it up with your doctor, and look up the side effects on the website for extra information. Take care. Oh, Rayne, is Cipralex another medication for Lexapro, I'm not sure? It seems to be a newer medication.

I am on Lexapro for about 1 week and I am CONSTANTLY tired, I yawn so much in a day, but the medicine works. So I kind of look at it like I'd rather yawn than be upset! And the whole breathing thing, happeneds to me too! I thought I was the only person out there like that! I try to take a deep breath and I feel like I didnt get enough air. Its a HORRIBLE feeling I know. I've been dealing with it for about 3-4 yrs. I started taking up yoga and believe it or not, it really works!!! Give it a try and let me know how it works for you!

Rayne, Try relaxation and breathing techniques. Relaxation techniques can relieve unnecessary stress and help you relax. It is ok to take some you time and make sure you post your success' within the success stories forum. We can all learn from one another. Okay kids....Dr took me off of Effexor. YAY! and put me on Cipralex again but at a lower dose. Seems to be working well, finally. I am feeling much better but have had a strange reaction the last few days. Just like before I tend to yawn CONSTANTLY, which is irritating enough but now I can't seem to take a deep breath and I NEED to. I feel like I am constantly taking deep breaths trying to get the ones when you feel like you've completely filled your lungs. You know that feeling? I am desperately trying to get it but can't seem to. I manage to get the odd one which makes me feel better but then in the next deep breath I can't and I feel like I am suffocating. Just to give you an idea of how many times a day this has happened I am at about 20-30 deep breath attempts per hour. I want to say it is all in my head but I am not sure. I feel ridiculous about this  Anybody have any input?? Any prior experience like this?
