Lexapro is a new drug and I was told by my M.D. that because I am a brittle diabetic and am on other medications, Lexparo was probably the best choice. Your OB should be doing extra tests to make sure everything is ok. For my condition I was started on 10mg and 30 days later doubled to 20mg. I'm not sure if I can handle the dosage the shrink wants me on so I have to have a blood/urine test every four weeks to decide if he can up the dose. Talk to you OB and then let us know how you're doing.

Hi Aingel, I just wanted to suggest, that if you are looking for more information on this medication, your local pharmacist can be a great resource. (I also responded to your other post about pregnancy and depression.) Casey __________________________________ The Depression Center Support Team

I just started Cymbalta @30mg (for the first week) then @60mg there after. I was on Paxil for a month but my doctor is pretty excited about this new dual neurotranmsitter modulator. All the press I have read on it are giving it great reviews. I have delt with depression and all the fun things that go along with it (anxiety, insomnia) on and off for about 7 years. I'm the type who goes off their meds when they have been feeling better for a while. My wife and I just had a baby and I promised once I found the right med I'd stick to it. I haven't been on Cymbalta long enough to really comment personally but I have done a lot of research (i'm a biologist - I do not work for Lilly) and I am very impressed with the reports I've been reading. I use ambien and xanax to help with sleep and can usually pull off 6hours. This drug is very specific for serotonin and norepinephrine and to a lesser extent dopamine. These are all implicated in mood. It's specificty is what gives it less side effects and better mood control. Hang in there everyone. Depression is a physical problem and can be helped with medication. The days will pass and you will start to feel better. I just thank God I wasn't born before there was all these medication options. It will only get better in the future too.

I AM SO GLAD THAT WE ARE ABLE TO HELP ONE ANOTHER. I WAS ALSO HAVING TROUBLE SLEEPING AND MY DR. PRESCRIBED 50 ML OF TRAZADONE WHICH HAS HELPED. IT TOOK ME A FEW DAYS TO ADJUST, I WAS A BIT DROWSY IN THE A.M. BUT O.K. TO DRIVE TO WORK AND WORKED EVERY DAY. I USED TO WAKE UP SEVERAL TIMES A NIGHT AND HAVE PROBLEMS GOING BACK TO SLEEP. I SOMETIMES ONLY SLEPT AN HOUR OR SO AND WOULD HAVE TO GO TO WORK THAT WAY. I STILL WAKE UP ONCE OR TWICE AT MOST AND AM ABLE TO GO BACK TO SLEEP. THE DR. SAID THAT I COULD INCREASE IT TO 100 ML IF I WANTED, AND I MAY,BUT, I WANT TO ADJUST TO THE CYMBALTA AND SEE HOW I AM.

I am glad I came across this message, I have been on most of the major depression medicines and I also have severe fibromyalgia, I believe its the cause of my depression. I went from 135 pounds start of my pregnancy to 264 and delievered a month early. I had severe toximia, also known as toximia. I was hospitalized several times and put on complete bedrest at 5 months, my body was so full of poison, it was terrible, since delivery, I have been in severe pain, times undescribable. I heard about Cymbalta helping relieve fibro symptoms. Since starting it, I have been having severe headaches, I suffer from migraines, I am on 20 mg for 1 wk, then 40 mg there after. After 4 days of being on it, the insomnia terrible, I tend on getting some benadryl or tylenol pm and see how that goes but my headache is constant. I was getting ready to stop taking it and contact my dr, thinking it wasnt going to get better. After reading some of the replies I now have hope that they will fade. So..wish me luck, Cindy

HI THIS IS SHERRIE AND I AM FREE OF THE HEADACHES,I HAVE BEEN VERY PLEASED WITH THE OVERALL EFFECT OF CYMBALTA. I HAVE FELT BETTER THAN I HAVE IN YEARS. I HAVE BEGUN TO DEAL WITH SOME OF THE THINGS IN MY LIFE THAT ARE CAUSING PART OF THE DEPRESSION. I HAVE HUGE TRUST ISSUES, I USED TO BE SUCH A CARETAKER AND OFCOURSE I GOT TAKEN A FEW TIMES, I HAVE PROBABLY GONE TO THE OPPOSITE EXTREME IN THE LAST FEW YEARS AND HAVE SPENT A LOT OF TIME ALONE. I REALLY THOUGHT I WOULD JUST LIVE BY GOING TO WORK AND DOING THE WORK AT HOME. I AM TRYING TO HAVE A LIFE OTHER THAN THAT, I STARTED TO REACH OUT WHEN I WAS ON THE WELLBUTRIN, BUT I DIDN'T REALLY TACKLE ANY OF THE ISSUES I HAD. I AM NOW SEEING SOMEONE FOR THERAPY AND TRYING TO GET IT TOGETHER. GOOD LUCK WITH THE CYMBALTA, GIVE IT A COUPLE OF WEEKS AT LEAST AND THE HEADACHES WILL LESSEN AND THEN GO AWAY.

HI THANKS FOR RESPONDING, MY HEADACHES HAD LESSENED AND THEN MY DR. PUT ME ON 60 MILLIGRAMS AND THEY GOT MORE FREQUENT, I HAVE BEEN ON THE 6O FOR FIVE DAYS AND THE HEADACHE IS GETTING BETTER. WHEN I TALKED TO MY DR. ABOUT THE HEADACHE, HE SAID THAT IT MADE SENSE TO HIM BECAUSE IT IS A SIDE EFFECT OF PROZAC AND PROBABLY WOULD BE WITH THE CYMBALTA. I FEEL BETTER THAN I HAVE FELT IN YEARS. THE BODY PAIN IS GONE, SO IS THE MELANCHOLY AND THE NEGATIVE THINKING, I HAVE MORE ENERGY, I AM HOWEVER A BIT SLEEPY IN THE MORNING, BUT HE JUST STARTED ME ON TRAZODONE 50 ML AT NIGHT FOR SLEEP, IT IS ALL WORKING I HAVE BEEN SLEEPING BETTER THAN I HAVE FOR YEARS. LAST NIGHT I SLEPT 7 1/2 HRS. WITHOUT WAKING. BEFORE THE CYMBALTA AND THE TRAZODONE I WOULD BE UP AND DOWN ALL NIGHT, SOME NIGHTS I ONLY SLEPT AN HOUR AND I WOULD HAVE TO GO TO WORK SO TIRED AND JUST MAKE IT SOMEHOW, MY TIREDNESS SEEM TO ACCUMULATE AND I FELT EXHAUSTED ALL THE TIME. WHOEVER INVENTED THIS STUFF IS MY HEROE-S. KEEP IN TOUCH AND LET ME KNOW HOW YOU ARE DOING.
