Watching your garden grow

I miss wild crocuses. We don't have them here. I do enjoy watching the perennials push there way out despite the fact their roots are in frozen ground. I'm excited about my Lilacs, I'm hoping they all flower this year. The tire store made a mistake, my tires for the tractor are coming next week now since this week end is four days not two. Easter in Canada.
Because of the cataracts which I don't get fixed till June I won't notice the poplars go green as soon as everyone else. But next year I will have 20/20 vision and can enjoy it.
I would imagine south of the border it is well into spring.

For some unknown reason my watermelons are all dying. And it isn't damp off. I'll plant them again. The geranium has flowers. Very long day again. So much for retirement. It is getting warmer now. As soon as the plastic is on the green house I can plant it unless we are going to get severe weather. I need to buy another extension cord, the one for the water pump got used for the electric tiller. Going to start radishes and lettuce in the little green house for my friend who is coming and her sister.

I wish my clarity would push through the fog that I've been in for so long. There are just some things that have to be understood in a short time, and between my slowness and agitated state, there is so little of me left. I'm going to go to bed and flower like a tulip.

Still six inches of snow in places yet my tulips are pushing there way out. Some of the perennials are coming too.

My first spring Rose has bloomed and my Cherry Patio Tomato that I potted this week has gotten it's first blooms.

I have two flower beds that are up on a hill that I may try Hugelkulture with because they are small, but I agree on a large scale it is too much work. And my soil is already good. And I have lots of water I can pump out of my ponds.

Davit,

Hugelkulture. Read up on it after reading your post. Interesting..but a little to much work for this old lady these days:)

The ivy geraniums I planted a while back are looking beautiful now all pink and lavender, the lilies of Nile are starting to bloom and so are the roses. Oh and the Zuni crape myrtles are all leafed out too. The fruitless plum is covered with pink flowers and is just now getting dark purple leaves all over it..The orange, lemon and grapefruit trees are covered with blooms and the bougainvilleas survived the winter frost and the are covered with cherry red flowers now..I guess the plants loved the rain we got a couple of months ago. Yes the flowers are going to be beautiful this year. I will be giving them a lot of  love and water this year...

An interesting way of gardening that is claimed to need little or no water. Hugelkulture.

This year we are down sizing the garden a lot. We have planted onions and asparagus in the ground in our little garden. I am growing the tomatoes in pots on the patio this year to conserve on water and to make things a little easier this time around. I am hoping to learn how to grow in pots and containers this season and if all goes well I plan on doing more patio gardening next year because I really love watching the plants grow..
