How to strengthen lungs?

for 19 år siden 0 148 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0
Me, have you discussed this with a doctor? You may have some COPD or asthma, or other lung disease. While quitting smoking and exercising are good starters to increasing lung capacity, medication can also be necessary in some cases. Your smoking might have been masking another respiratory problem. Ask your doctor if a pulmonary function test might be appropriate (it's painless, not invasive) and also clear your exercise program with him/her if you have not already done so. Hi Me! There is a woman where I work that has just come thru chemo and radiation treatment for lung cancer. Her Doc has her blowing up balloons to increase her lung capacity. Sounds kinda fun and festive! Hi Me, I have recently signed up for a 5m run on 7th May, so time is running out for me to train for the day. I have run for the first time in 20+ years 3 days ago and were amazed to be able to run with no major difficulty for 15 minutes. The best excercise for your lungs is exercise because during phisical activity you inhale more and get more oxygen to your lungs. Stretch and GO! PS: if you like skating, you can start with that to get some strength back in your legs without the hardship and increase pulmonar capacity. However, running has a much heavier impact on your legs' muscle (I know, I still can't walk for the pain!!!) Good luck. You're going to need to build up your lung capacity gradually. One way would be to start slowly -- instead of trying to run, start walking instead, 15-20 minutes a day and build up to running. You might also check out the couch-to-5k program...google it - I think the site is called coolrunnings. Me, There are many running clubs that can help boost your endurance. Please also check with your doctor before beginning any strenuous activity. Exercise is a great way to keep fit and occupied, one of the best coping mechanisms there is :) Keep Strong, Josie _____________________ The SSC Support Team.
